Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer

Experienced Embedded Engineer

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to drive the development of technologies which will feed the world.

As a lead mechanical design engineer, you will be dedicated to transforming ideas and proofs of concepts into real robots. 

You will be amazing at:

  • Creating, reviewing and signing off on a design brief

  • Concepting possible design solutions or evolutions to existing designs

  • Leading the research into whether a design will work and be cost-effective

  • Leading the assessment of the physical, emotional, usable, environmental impact of a design

  • Being chief CAD ninja

  • Iteratively collecting and analysing data from tests on prototypes, modifying the designs and retesting them

You will have:

You will have had experience in running a team of junior engineers and be able to introduce us to some of your biggest fans.

You will have created some pretty astonishing stuff - preferably robotic but we are open to suggestions.

Preferably, you will have designed for rugged outdoor environments.

Qualifications would be good, but suitable experience is just as important.

The role will be at our bespoke new facility, which is easily commutable from Salisbury, Southampton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover, and reachable from Bath, Swindon, Bournemouth and the Thames Valley tech corridor.

As an embedded engineer, you will be dedicated to creating software and control systems to make Tom, Dick and Harry do their jobs.

You will be a confident and experienced embedded or controls engineer who can bring their experience to help improve our systems.

You should also have demonstrable experience of growing a team and passing your knowledge to the next generation of engineers and be able to introduce us to some of your biggest fans.

As we are a startup and everyone mucks in, you will also have to take on a few tasks outside of the traditional embedded role to support our growing company. 

Key Skills:

  • C++, Python

  • Linux

  • Microcontrollers

  • Control Systems

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology 

  • Significant industrial experience and achievements, preferably in robotic applications

 Desirable Skills:

  • Raspberry Pi

  • ROS (Robotic Operating System)

  • Experience with safety critical systems

  • Degree or higher in Engineering or Computer Science. Proven Experience is more desirable to us at this stage. 

  • MATLAB/Simulink.
